My name is Dr. Eleanor Vincent, EdD, LPC, LCPC, CSAC and I am the owner and primary therapist at Fidelis Therapy, LLC. My office is located in the heart of Fairfax, but I have mostly transitioned to virtual sessions since the outbreak of COVID-19. My practice hours are Monday Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings. I can be available by appointment on Thursdays and Fridays, and some Saturdays for established clients.
Our first few sessions will be me getting to know you so be prepared for me to ask a lot of questions about you, your current situation, family and other aspects of your life. We will also discuss the challenges you are currently facing that lead you to therapy, and how I can be helpful to you.
I am a licensed mental health professional with over 30 years of experience in the mental health field in England and the United States. I incorporate trauma-informed strategies into my practice and am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I have worked with adults and adolescents in inpatient and community settings and also have many years of executive management experience in the nonprofit mental health industry. In addition to fluent English, I speak conversational French and West African Creole.
I believe in the ability of each individual to be the best they can be given the right circumstances and support. I bring unconditional positive regard to each therapeutic relationship and am solution-focused in my approach. I draw heavily on cognitive-behavior techniques, with a belief that our thoughts directly impact our feelings and behaviors. I also believe in the mind-body connection and the importance of balance in life.
I have undergraduate degrees in psychology and human services, and a doctorate in counseling psychology. I am licensed to practice psychotherapy in Virginia and Maryland and am a certified substance abuse counselor in Virginia.
